Lifeboats launch their lunch

Jane Terry writes:

When I was collecting house to house, people were so very generous and the children loved putting money into the lifeboat shaped collecting box.

“It’s the lifeboat lady Mummy!”

My love for the R.N.L.I. started when a lady knocked on our door in Warwickshire, miles from the sea. Being a sailor and driving down to Cowes most weekends in the summer to race boats staying with Uffa Fox in his home, Commodore’s House. I was asked to join the Warwick Ladies lifeboat committee, later becoming Secretary and then the Chairman.

We are delighted to give the use of the boathouse at Commodores House to the Cowes RNLI Guild for one of their delicious Salmon and Strawberry lunches.
